A message from the President

Welcome to the November U3A Oliva Newsletter

Belinda and I want to thank you all for your overwhelming support for us as your U3A officers. The support from both the online voting and the raised hands from those who attended the EGM was very humbling. I am also happy to confirm the acceptance of Sandra, Julie, Kelvin, and Barry as committee members, who, along with the rest of the previously nominated committee members, will continue to make the U3A Oliva an organisation to be proud of and to serve our members to our best ability.
We, as volunteers, give up our time in order for the members to have a functioning organisation. If you are willing to help in any way or have a suggestion (or complaint), please do not hesitate to contact me or use the suggestion box, which will be available at all coffee and general meetings.
We would also like to thank the guitar group for their wonderful entertainment for the members while they enjoyed coffee while waiting for the EGM to start. If you are interested in joining the guitar group, and I am told that some of these players were complete beginners when the group started up, please head to their group page for details.
Storage Needed
The Ajuntament d’ Oliva had allowed us for many years to use a store cupboard at the CPC for our trove of resources accumulated over the years. Now, however, they require the space for their own use and we have had to remove all the contents. If anyone has a dry storage area or lock up garage in, or very local to, Oliva that we could use please email president@U3AOliva.org to discuss the situation.
Covid
Is rearing its ugly head again. Quite a few of our members have tested positive recently, so please be careful. The Medical Centre is sending out messages about getting an up-to-date vaccine. You can use the GVA Salut app to make an appointment or If you are in the area, then you could pop in and make an appointment. If you don't know how to use the app then please come to the Help group meeting on Monday at 2pm in the Pensionista centre.
Committee Minutes and Accounts

Steve Hems has started collecting the shoe boxes, but we do need 75 this year, so please get in touch if you can help. If you could spare 15 euros to fill a shoebox with a small gifts for the children of El Bastidor School, then please contact Steve at vice-president@U3Aoliva.org who will give you all the details about child age/gender and the collection points. Many thanks
