Our next amble takes us to the beautiful Marjal natural park between Oliva and Pego, with a stop at the Font Salada thermal pool.
We'll meet at 10:30 for a coffee at the Font Salada Chiringuito, ready for an 11:00 start, and should be back between 1:30 and 2pm. There's plenty of parking available. But follow the directions carefully if you're not familiar with this area.
It's a 6.5km circular walk, and entirely flat. In places we will walk along the banks of the Riu Del Vedat, making our way around the paddy fields. Then a short walk and around the Muntanyeta Verda. There are a lot of great scenery, migrating birds, & of course the paddy fields. The route is circular, approx. 6.5kms and entirely flat. Stout walking shoes or boots certainly recommended, walking sticks are not necessary. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
After the amble you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the naturally heated pool before lunch - but strictly no skinny-dipping 🙂 We're planning for stop for lunch around 2pm, and will email the menu out in advance to everyone who's signed up to come.

If this is your first amble, you should also include your membership number. Your number was on the confirmation emails you received when you joined or renewed recently. If you've lost that email, send a message to members@u3aoliva.org for help.

Getting there
You're best approaching the Font from Oliva, heading south down the N332 towards Alicante. It's not possible to safely cross the road when you're heading North,
- About 3km from Oliva (where the industrial estate ends), keep a careful look out for a right hand turn - it's not well signposted, but it just after the 80 speed limit sign.
- If you miss it, don't worry. Take the immediate right slip road to the Repsol garage. As you pass it, turn sharp right behind the garage and you'll end up at the same spot.
- Keep following the road underneath the AP7, and you'll head towards the Hotel Font Salada, and then pass it. You're following signs for the Chiringuito Font Salada now. Be careful as all these roads are narrow, so pass with care.
- When you reach the Font pool, you'll see the car park to the left. And you'll see the Chiringuito / meeting point at the far end of the pool.
