Children’s Christmas Shoebox Gifts
This year we will once again be distributing Christmas gift boxes to the children of the Bastidor centre. For those of you who don’t know, this not-for-profit centre offers underprivileged children of Oliva after-school help with homework
The idea is simple: if you or anyone you know (this isn’t restricted to U3A members) wish to donate, please email me at shoebox@u3aoliva.org with the number of boxes you wish to prepare. I will then email you back with the gender and age of a child (for example girl, age 😎 for each box
You then just need to find an empty shoebox (if you don’t have spares at home, local shops or the Oliva Friday market stalls happily oblige). Then fill it with presents to a value not exceeding 15euros. This is important so that no child gets more than others. There’s no limit to the amount of love that goes in, however!
Please don’t put any food or sweets in the boxes. In the past boxes have included things such as t-shirts, hats, socks, small toys, drawing materials, educational items, accessories
Then wrap it, decorate it if you wish, and attach a label (that won’t easily fall off and colour it blue for boy and pink for girl - this is a great help when sorting the boxes) clearly stating the age & gender of the lucky child who gets your present
We will organise a collection point sometime in early December
Thanks in advance for your kindness
