Find out where to place our plants, how to look after them and more importantly which ones to buy
Many of you know Anthony Saxon the singer and dancer extraordinaire, but not everyone knows about his horticulture knowledge and expertise. Anthony worked in the horticulture industry before becoming a horticulture lecturer in various colleges in the UK for nearly 30 years.
Do you know your Artemisia from your Elephant ear? Anthony will be delivering a talk on ‘Terrace planter basics’. Keen and amateur gardeners alike will have experienced the pitfalls of trying to cultivate beautiful terrace pots in the Spanish sun. Some of you just may simply want advice on what plants survive.
The talk is a prelude to a short course on practical gardening that Anthony will be delivering for the u3a. Places will be strictly limited, so sign up online now or and sign up at the coffee morning.
An appeal for help for a good cause
Elena, one of our members, is gathering practical donations for the Franciscan Hospice in Gandia (often referred to as the Centro de Acogida San Francisco de Asís). The Hospice is a refuge and nursing home located in Palma de Gandía. It provides housing, food, and 24/7 care for around 60 to 65 homeless, chronically ill, or elderly men who have no other support system.
They desperately need all sorts of donations - tinned or dried foods, toiletries, medical products and practical things too.
She'll be collecting any donations at this coffee morning, so please do bring along anything you're happy to donate.
