Amblers

Status: Active, open to new members
Group Leader:
Terry Stuart
Group email: Amblers group
When: Fortnightly on Tuesdays
2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from late September to Mid May

Important Notice to all Amblers.

It is regrettable to advise that this amble is postponed until the 20th February. This is due to the fact that the Bar Roca restaurant owner decided to take time off at short notice. He will hopefully be back either the 5th or 6th February. We did think that we could do the amble in reverse e.g. Beniali to Benirrama. On visiting Beniali we discovered all the restaurants were closed for road works along both sides of the road. We then thought Gandia Wetlands have a restaurant close by open all year including Christmas day. They were closed for a staff vacation as well. With so many restaurants close to our amble venues closed we decided to postpone it to the 20th February. All details remain the same.

About our group

Our walks are designed to be easy on mostly flat roads or tracks.

The walks last between 2 & 3 hrs with breaks for drinks of water & taking pictures of the beautiful countryside. We can arrange car sharing from Oliva to get to our chosen walking route.

We normally meet up in the morning at Cafe/Bar for a coffee then start our walk. And afterwards we'll have lunch at a restaurant nearby. If a suitable restaurant is not available we will have a picnic on the walk.

The Amblers group takes a rest between mid May and late September.

You'll see information about our latest amble below.,

Our latest walk was to Bellus

The much awaited ambling season is about to start with our first amble being the much loved Benirrama route.

This is a particularly attractive amble, mostly along one side of a valley over viewing rolling hillsides and lush woodlands.

We have used Bar Roca for many years and enjoyed many memorable dishes there. I'm sure we will again on Tuesday. Please advise your attendance and if you are staying for lunch or not. Click on the link at the bottom of the page for details. The Menu will follow shortly.

The scenery in the Val de Gallinera is beautiful, Nearly as good as the Glens of Scotland.

Start Time & Duration:

Coffee at Bar Roca 10.30,    Start Walk @ 11.00am. Arrive back at Bar Roca approx. 1.30pm for Lunch.
Bar Roca is one of the best restaurants in the area.

Route & Description:

The route is MODERATELY EASY, on tarmac or concrete road surfaces. The road undulates but occasionally with only one steep incline going into and out of Beniali. The walk will take about 50 mins each way, including time to stop a few times to allow you to take pictures & have some liquid refreshment. When we get to Beniali we will be able to have a beer or coffee. We will then return on the same road to the Bar Roca for lunch.

How to get there:

From the south side of Oliva turn off the N332 on to the CV715 to Pego. On entering Pego turn right at the pigmy roundabout  on to the CV700 in the direction of Adsubia/Atsuvia. Go through Adsubia, the next village on the left is Benirrama, on top of the hill. From Oliva the distance is approx. 21kms & will take about 30 mins. On entering Benirrama you will find parking at the top of the hill. Walk back down to the Bar Roca, the Bar is signposted from the car park.

Things you will need:

The walk is easy under foot. Walking sticks are not necessary.

Please email me if you want to car share, I will try & put drivers & passengers together. If you are a car owner with spare seats, please let me know.

All new Amblers must prove their membership and supply a phone number when booking.

It is important that you register your attendance in advance so that if I need to cancel the amble you will receive an e-mail advising the cancellation.
