Hello, There are a few things happening in the next week or so which I would like to tell you about.
Firstly I would like to thank all the members who have renewed or joined - you should have received your membership card and number via email.
If you have not received this please email members@u3aoliva.org and we will sort it out for you. Your membership number is important and will be required for booking events and trips etc.
If you haven't renewed your subscription yet you can do so either online at anytime or at one of our next few coffee mornings - where you can pay with cash or card.
The last coffee morning was extremely busy and I'm not sure I managed to speak with everyone, so please do come along if you would like a chat, discuss groups, or events, etc.
You have until October 31st to renew to keep the benefits of the u3a Oliva, after that you will no longer receive emails or be a member of the u3a Oliva Facebook group. We would hate to lose you so please do sign up again.
If you can't make this Thursday's coffee morning, then on Friday 20th 11-12:30 AT Salva Patisserie Cafeteria at the Gandia end of the market (just over the roundabout) Sandra and Alan will be there to relieve you of your 10€ cash and have a coffee with you. They can also tell you about the groups and trips etc. (If it is raining they will be inside).
Bingo
This is definitely EYES DOWN. Hopefully the first of many Bingo sessions. On Tuesday 24th Terry Caplin will be your Caller.
Books are 2€ (strips of 6 available for the experts). There are 10 games to a book. Cash prizes are determined by the number of players
As this is a new event, we have no idea of the expected turn out, however the venue can only hold 50; so it is the first 50 who register. Bookings will be open shortly - check the bingo page for more information . You will need your membership number to book.
Guests are allowed but will need to be signed in by a member and pay a 2 euro charity charge. This is a non-profit event.
Tasca Olivense have created a small tapas menu especially for our bingo players, so you have time to eat during the interval. There will be a tick box for ordering for your table. All food needs to be ordered and paid for before the 7.30pm start. Explanation of the games are here. It all sounds like a lot of fun. Don't forget your dobbers!!!

Groups news
Yes, we are still waiting hear news regarding the Pensionista Centre. It may seem like we are not doing anything, but believe me, the ladies in the office who deal with the booking are fed up with hearing from us. Our hands are tied, their hands are tied until all room requests are in and negotiations have taken place and then rooms confirmed. If anyone knows of any room or space that we could use while waiting, please let me know.
In the meantime, we have some new groups up and coming, so please do keep checking out the Groups Page.
There is an introduction to Chair Yoga on Wednesday 9th October in the Just one Thing/Mindfulness group if anyone is interested in finding out what it is all about. Please email the group leader to let her know.
u3a Oliva Drama Group has chosen its next production and we have numerous ways for anyone to get involved! They will be producing"The Retirement of the Witches of Ipswich"sometime in the March to April 2025 time frame. It's a comedy in two acts with a cast of 5 women, 2 men and 3 either gender.
They'll hold auditions and start rehearsals some time in October. For this, we have opportunities for Producer, Director, actors, costume design, set design, props, publicity and much more. If you want to be involved, we'll get you involved!
