u3a Newsletter (November 2025)

This newsletter was emailed directly to all members.

Hang on to your Christmas stockings....there is so much on next month you will not have time to think about wrapping presents.

Before you start planning your diary, please would you consider helping the committee.

The Committee, and I am sure all the members, would like to thank Carol-Ann Nonino for all her hard work and effort she has put in as Group Coordinator, however she's taken a side step from Group Coordinator to Travel Coordinator.

This leaves a gaping hole on the committee for someone to help support and visit our 40 plus groups.  I am filling in on a temporary basis, but would love to share some duties with other members. Please contact me directly if you are interested in finding out more; president@u3aoliva.org

Hope to see you soon. Angela

Dates for your diary

There is loads to do over the next few months.

Coming soon...

January Quiz 12th with Phil Brown as Quiz Master.

Christmas Shoeboxes

Papa Noel still needs a few more offers for shoe box gifts - find out more about our appeal.

El Bastido, a small school in Oliva. helps and supports under-privileged and vulnerable children through after school clubs. Some of our members help these children weekly with their English homework. Every year our members are asked to donate a shoe box with toys/games etc. inside up to a value of 15€; wrapped and labelled according to gender and age previously confirmed.

You can take them to the Singalong Coffee morning on Dec 10th. or Steve will be available on 15th/16th to collect from Oliva town.  times and places to be confirmed. Keep an eye on our Facebook group.

Group News

With 40+ groups, there's something for everyone!

Now, don't tell anyone, but there are questions being asked about a u3a aqua aerobics group at the Oliva sports centre,  so watch this space... Keep checking our website and our Facebook group for the latest news.

With so many groups, it can be difficult to know where to start. If you want a suggestion, try our random group chooser - what will you get? And if you have ideas for new groups, get in touch.

Don't forget you will need to contact the group leader if you wish to join a group and have your membership number ready. Check our groups page to find out more information about any of our groups, new and established.

Support for members

Recently I sent out a request for any short term helpers that could assist our members in an emergency. The help that could be required is: Translators, Dog Walkers / Feeders, Cat feeders, Shopping & Hospital Appointments - visits

Unfortunately so far there has only been a couple of members respond with more members needing help. So I am asking again for any support you can give...however small.

I am here to help members if you have any health issues or need support from a member for shopping or transport. please do get in touch.

Please email support@u3aoliva.org if you can offer up your time. Remember you may need help yourself one day!!!

I'm also continuing to help our members find a good tradesperson when the need arises. If you can recommend anyone, especially if they speak English, please do contact me.
